Everett YMCA
Everett, Washington (Snohomish County)
New and expanded YMCA to meet the community’s growing need for programs that provide a health and social safety net for low-income residents and at-risk youth.
The Project
The YMCA of Snohomish County, Washington has operated a facility in Everett, WA (Everett Y) since 1901. Market studies demonstrated that a new YMCA in a new location (1.5 miles south of the original location) could increase those served from 10,000 to 30,000 people per year.
The new 60,000 SF facility is state-of-the-art, including a large gymnasium, indoor track, dedicated cycle studio, two group exercise studios, a large aquatic center, nutrition kitchen, and generous cardio floor with new equipment. In addition, the Everett Y serves as the home for the Big Brother Big Sisters of Snohomish County and offers innovative, on-site partnerships with:
- Providence Medical Services to provide physical and occupational therapy
- Everett Public Schools to enable the local high school swim teams use of the Y’s aquatic center for practices and swim meets
- City of Everett to construct a new neighborhood park on the Y’s property, an area that had been officially designated as a “Park Deficit Zone”
